
Pune, May 27: In a significant operation, police in Pune, Maharashtra, have arrested five members of the infamous Aadekar Gang. The suspects were apprehended while preparing for a robbery. Authorities seized four pistols, ten live cartridges, a sickle, a knife, and other items from their possession. The total value of the confiscated goods is estimated to be around ₹276,000.
According to police reports, the operation took place at the foothills of Miravli Hill in the Taluka area. The local crime branch received a tip-off indicating that suspicious individuals were gathering in the area to plan a major crime. Acting swiftly, police set up a trap and conducted a raid.
Upon noticing the police, the suspects attempted to flee, but the police team successfully apprehended all five. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mushtaq Sheikh, Virat Mehndale, Samarth Madalkar, Samarth Dudhbhate, and Akash Pawar.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Samarth Madalkar and Samarth Dudhbhate had prior serious charges against them in Pune city, including attempted murder, MCOCA violations, and illegal possession of firearms. Authorities believe the suspects were preparing to execute a significant criminal act.
The police have confiscated the weapons and cartridges found in the suspects’ possession. Officials stated that timely action helped avert a major crime.
Currently, cases have been registered against the suspects at the relevant police station, and the local crime branch is conducting a thorough investigation. Police are working to determine the specific crime the suspects intended to commit and identify any other individuals associated with this gang.
