Greater Noida, February 28: A shocking incident occurred in the Badalpur area of Greater Noida on Friday, where an unregistered black Thar vehicle filled up with diesel at a petrol station and fled without paying.
The driver of the vehicle collided with a petrol station employee, leaving him seriously injured. Following the incident, police from Badalpur, Dadri, and Jarcha launched a joint operation, pursuing the suspect for nearly 10 kilometers before apprehending him.
According to police reports, the unregistered Thar arrived at a petrol station near the NTPC cut. The driver filled the tank with diesel but sped off towards the Dadri bypass without making any payment.
Noticing the theft, salesman Kuldeep Sharma, a resident of Dadri, attempted to chase the Thar on his motorcycle. In the Kot Chowki area of the Dadri bypass, Kuldeep tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not comply. During this high-speed chase, the Thar collided with Kuldeep’s motorcycle, causing him to fall and sustain injuries.
Witnesses reported that the reckless driver also hit several other motorcyclists while fleeing. Allegations suggest that he dragged the injured salesman for some distance before escaping.
Upon receiving the alert, police from Badalpur, Dadri, and Jarcha set up a blockade. After a pursuit of approximately 10 kilometers, they successfully captured the Thar. The suspect has been identified as Harsh, a 22-year-old resident of Joli village in Sikandarabad, Bulandshahr. He has been taken into custody along with the vehicle.
The injured salesman, Kuldeep Sharma, was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Police report that his condition is now stable. The entire incident was recorded on CCTV cameras at the petrol station and along the route, which will aid in further investigations. The Badalpur police have received a formal complaint and have initiated legal proceedings against the accused under relevant sections of the law.
