
Sitapur, May 21: A shocking incident of murder followed by suicide has sent shockwaves through Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh. Reports indicate that a man killed his wife with a sharp weapon and then hanged himself. ASP Durgesh Kumar Singh confirmed the incident, stating that the police are currently investigating the case.
The tragedy unfolded in the village of Isroli, located in the Thana Ganj police jurisdiction. The family is in mourning following the deaths of the husband, Deepak, and his wife, Chhaya. The local community is also gripped by fear after this violent episode.
ASP Singh reported that the Thana Ganj police received information about the murder in Isroli village, prompting immediate action. Senior officials also inspected the scene. Upon arrival, they found Chhaya’s body lying on a cot with visible wounds from a sharp weapon. Deepak was discovered hanging in a room.
Investigations revealed that an argument had erupted between Deepak and Chhaya. Witnesses reported that Deepak attacked his wife with a sharp weapon (a ‘banka’). Family members raised an alarm and called for help. However, by the time they intervened, Chhaya had already succumbed to her injuries. Following the murder, Deepak took his own life by hanging.
ASP Durgesh Kumar Singh stated that the police have taken both bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem examinations. He assured that the investigation is ongoing, and further actions will be determined based on the findings.
