Ranchi, May 21: BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Dev has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent foreign tour as a significant success, commending India’s global diplomacy and strategic strength. He also launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, welcoming the West Bengal government’s decision on border security.
In an exclusive interview with a news agency, Shah Dev remarked that the tour was crucial for trade, defense, and strategic interests. Italy has upgraded India as a key strategic partner, and agreements have been made with Scandinavian countries in renewable energy and defense sectors. He indicated that the Prime Minister may share the achievements from this tour in an upcoming Cabinet meeting. Regarding discussions of a Cabinet reshuffle, he stated that it is the Prime Minister’s prerogative and inappropriate to comment further.
Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s controversial remarks about PM Modi, Shah Dev criticized Gandhi for consistently lowering political decorum. He accused Gandhi of using derogatory terms for the Prime Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah, thereby dishonoring the nation. Shah Dev suggested that Gandhi’s comments might be influenced by the Pakistani government, which has often referenced his statements in its documents and declarations. He questioned whether controlling terrorism, Naxalism, and bomb blasts constitutes treachery, asserting that the public would not forgive Gandhi for such statements.
Praising India’s global diplomacy, Shah Dev noted the ongoing atrocities against minorities and various communities in Pakistan, while India has fostered peace and development in Kashmir. He highlighted a significant reduction in stone-pelting and insurgency incidents since the Modi government took office, referencing the Pahalgam attack as an example of India’s decisive response to Pakistan.
On India-U.S. nuclear energy relations, he stated that India is self-reliant in this sector. Despite challenging international conditions and sanctions, India has developed its nuclear capabilities. He welcomed U.S. collaboration but emphasized that India would not compromise its strategic interests.
Shah Dev described U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to India as positive, noting that both nations are the world’s largest democracies and their strategic partnership is continuously strengthening. He expressed hope that this visit would enhance bilateral relations and lead to progress on several pending agreements.
Mentioning the highest civilian honors awarded to PM Modi by various countries, Shah Dev stated that recognition from 31-32 nations reflects India’s growing global influence. He asserted that many countries now view India as a reliable partner, a testament to Modi’s leadership.
Discussing the proposed ‘Developed India Ji Ram Ji Scheme’ set to launch on July 1, Shah Dev described it as a crucial initiative aimed at strengthening the rural economy. The plan includes increased workdays and a fully digital payment process to curb corruption in schemes like MGNREGA.
He welcomed the decision to allocate land to the BSF for border fencing in West Bengal, calling it a significant step towards preventing infiltration. He noted that this long-pending issue has been prioritized and resolved by the new government. Additionally, he highlighted the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in West Bengal as another major decision by the government.
