SRH Faces RCB in a Battle for IPL Supremacy

Hyderabad, May 21: In the 67th match of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this Friday at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium. This match is crucial as both teams vie for the top position in the league. RCB aims to maintain its lead, while SRH seeks a commanding victory to claim the top spot.

Under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, RCB has already secured a playoff berth, sitting comfortably at the top of the points table with 18 points. A win against SRH will guarantee RCB a place in the first qualifier. Key players like Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal have been in excellent form this season. Venkatesh Iyer also made headlines with a powerful 73-run innings in the last match. On the bowling front, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been impressive, supported well by Rasikh Salam and Josh Hazlewood.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad holds the third position in the table with 16 points from 13 matches. A significant win against RCB could propel them to the top. Their batting lineup is in formidable shape, with Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen consistently performing well. Nitish Kumar Reddy has also made vital contributions with both bat and ball. In bowling, Pat Cummins took three wickets in the last match, while Ishan Malinga and Saqib Hussain have also delivered strong performances.

The pitch at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is known to favor batsmen, offering good bounce that allows the ball to come onto the bat easily. However, spinners can also make an impact on this ground. Historically, matches between RCB and SRH have been closely contested. Out of 27 encounters, SRH has won 14, while RCB has claimed 12 victories.

In their earlier meeting this season, RCB triumphed over Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets. According to AccuWeather, clear skies are expected in Hyderabad on Friday, with a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius.
