Allegations of Sexual Assault on Minor at Haryana Hospital: Doctor Goes Missing

Chandigarh, June 1: A shocking case of alleged sexual assault on a minor has emerged from the Lok Nayak Jayprakash (LNJP) District Civil Hospital in Kurukshetra, Haryana. The accusations are directed at a retired doctor who had been reappointed after his retirement. An investigation has been initiated following the revelation of the incident.

The accused, Dr. Shailendra Kumar Shaili, had retired from his position as Principal Medical Officer at the hospital. However, he was brought back as a consultant after retirement. Since the incident, he has reportedly gone into hiding.

The minor was admitted to the hospital due to complaints of abdominal pain. The victim and her family allege that Dr. Shailendra Shaili, the consultant, admitted her and subsequently sexually assaulted her multiple times in the hospital’s OPD area. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and begun their investigation.

In the meantime, the state government has terminated the services of the accused doctor. Following the incident, he has been removed from his position, and his appointment has been revoked.

Dr. Upendra Singh, on emergency duty, informed the media that the minor was initially admitted to the women’s ward. On the night of May 29, around 8:30 PM, she was transferred to the emergency department due to severe bleeding. During treatment, the minor alleged that she had been sexually assaulted multiple times in the OPD area of the hospital.

A medical examination of the minor was conducted under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. She was provided with necessary counseling, and her statement was recorded. The Kurukshetra University police have registered a case under Sections 6 and 10 of the POCSO Act and have commenced their investigation.

In light of the seriousness of the case, the Director General of Health Services, Sumita Mishra, issued orders on Sunday to terminate the accused doctor’s services immediately. Following this, his appointment was canceled.

According to police reports, the victim’s father alleged in his complaint that the accused doctor sexually assaulted the minor under the pretext of conducting an examination. After the incident, the girl experienced pain and severe bleeding, which led to her admission to the women’s ward.
