Akali Leaders Rally Support for Majithia, Accuse Punjab Government of Vendetta Politics

Chandigarh, June 1: The Punjab Police have intensified their efforts to arrest senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikramjit Singh Majithia, sparking outrage among top party officials. They allege that the actions against Majithia are politically motivated.

Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal stated, “The case against Bikram Singh Majithia is purely vendetta politics. They think that by filing a case against him, they can intimidate Majithia and our party workers. They are mistaken; it doesn’t affect us.”

Badal further asserted, “I want to tell Bhagwant Mann and Kejriwal to file as many cases as they want. The people of Punjab will respond to them in four months.”

Meanwhile, Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal commented on the actions against Majithia, saying, “The Chief Minister has lost his composure. When Bikram Singh Majithia moves freely, he exposes the Chief Minister and reveals his corrupt practices. This is intolerable for him.”

She accused police officials of detaining an innocent Akali worker, claiming that the SHO had kept the worker confined at his home, with a cloth over his mouth and his hands tied. Majithia attempted to rescue him, arguing that if they were arresting him, they should file an FIR and take him to the police station. This led to the case being registered against Majithia. Harsimrat Kaur Badal emphasized that law and order in Punjab is non-existent.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also responded to the police actions against Majithia. Punjab BJP President Kaul Singh Dhillon stated, “Raids are being conducted against Bikram Singh Majithia. From day one, I have maintained that this is vendetta politics, and I strongly oppose it. The BJP also firmly stands against this.”

He noted that Punjab has regressed due to such politics. “We have forgotten the real issues of Punjab—development, health, education, teachers, farmers, and youth. We have overlooked all these in favor of vendetta politics.”

It is worth mentioning that the Punjab Police conducted multiple raids in Amritsar and Chandigarh on Monday to apprehend Bikramjit Singh Majithia. This action followed an alleged attack on the Majitha police station, where it is claimed that Majithia and his supporters attempted to free an accused named Jobanpreet from police custody.
