Tragic Bus Accidents in Uttarakhand Claim One Life and Injure Over 26

Dehradun, June 1: Two separate bus accidents in Uttarakhand on Monday morning resulted in the death of one passenger and injuries to over 26 others. Police teams have arrived at both accident sites, and investigations are ongoing.

The first accident occurred in Haridwar, within the jurisdiction of the Nagar Kotwali police station, where a passenger bus lost control and overturned. This tragic incident led to the death of one woman and left 26 others injured.

Reports indicate that a group of pilgrims from Rajasthan was traveling in a double-decker bus to Haridwar. After taking a holy dip in the Ganges, they were preparing to return home. It was during this time that the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle in the Saptarishi area, causing the bus to flip over.

At the time of the accident, approximately 45 passengers were on board. The incident caused panic among the travelers, with cries for help emanating from the overturned vehicle. Upon receiving news of the accident, police and emergency teams quickly arrived at the scene and transported the injured passengers to nearby hospitals.

Authorities also initiated efforts to remove the overturned bus from the road using a crane. The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Pushpakunwar, the wife of Bhawar Singh from Nagaur district in Rajasthan.

In a separate incident, police reported another accident near Shantikunj, where a bus was reversing along the roadside. In an attempt to avoid colliding with the overturned vehicle, the driver of an approaching dumper truck lost control and crashed into a roadside dhaba. This incident also damaged a Bolero vehicle parked nearby. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported from this second collision.

In a different event in Tehri district, several passengers were injured when another bus overturned near Joulangi village. The bus was en route from Gangotri to Kedarnath when the accident occurred approximately three kilometers from Kandi Khal towards Chamba.

Officials stated that around 22 people were on board the bus, including the driver and conductor. Rescue teams arrived promptly at the scene and transported the injured passengers to a nearby medical center.

So far, there have been no reports of fatalities in the Tehri accident. Authorities mentioned that some passengers sustained injuries, and their conditions are being monitored. The police have launched investigations to determine the exact causes of both accidents.
