
Mumbai, June 1: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) – General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) has officially announced the recruitment of male candidates for a total of 899 positions across various trades.
The vacancies include 42 Draftsman roles, 10 Hindi Typists, 300 Store Keeper Technical (SKT), 261 Operator Communication, 207 Operator Excavating Machinery (OEM) (General Category), and 79 Electrician positions.
Reserved positions are available for ex-servicemen (ESM) and persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD). This includes 6 Draftsman, 1 Hindi Typist, 45 Store Keeper Technical (SKT), 39 Operator Communication, 31 Operator Excavating Machinery (OEM) (General Category), and 12 Electrician roles for ESM. For PwBD, there are 3 Draftsman and 12 Store Keeper Technical (SKT) positions.
The offline application process began on May 21, with the deadline set for July 4 for general candidates and July 19 for candidates from northeastern states and remote areas, including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir’s Ladakh division, Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba’s Pangi sub-division, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep. Candidates are advised to complete their registration within the stipulated time frame.
Applicants for the Draftsman position must have completed their 12th grade with science subjects from a recognized board/institution and possess a two-year certificate in architecture or draftsman ship (equivalent) or a two-year National Trade Certificate in Draftsman (Civil) along with one year of practical experience in the field.
For the Hindi Typist role, candidates should have completed their 12th grade or equivalent and must be proficient in Hindi typing. The Store Keeper Technical (SKT) position requires candidates to have completed their 12th grade or equivalent, with knowledge of storage related to vehicles or engineering equipment. Preference will be given to those with three years of experience in store establishment.
The Operator (Communication) position requires a matriculation certificate or a certificate from an industrial training institute as a wireless operator or radio mechanic, or an equivalent qualification. For the Operator Excavating Machinery (OEM) (General Category) role, candidates must have completed their matriculation or equivalent and possess a heavy motor vehicle driving license. The Electrician position requires a matriculation certificate or equivalent and a certificate from an industrial training institute as an auto electrician or one year of experience as an electrician.
The minimum age for applicants is set at 18 years, while the maximum age is 27 years, calculated as of June 1. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per the rules.
Selection of eligible candidates will be based on a written examination, merit list shortlisting, physical efficiency test (PET), physical measurement, trade test (TT), preliminary medical examination (PME), and document verification (DV). Selected candidates will receive a salary ranging from ₹5,200 to ₹20,200, along with a grade pay of ₹1,900 to ₹2,800, depending on the post. Additional benefits and allowances will also be provided.
When filling out the application form, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee according to their category. The fee is set at ₹50 for general/EWS (including ex-servicemen and ex-firefighters)/OBC candidates. Scheduled caste/scheduled tribe/benchmark disability candidates are exempt from the registration fee.
To apply, candidates should first visit the official BRO portal. After navigating to the homepage, click on the notification link for the relevant position. Download the application form provided in the notification and print it out. Fill in all required information, attach the necessary documents, and send the completed application in an envelope to ‘Commandant, GREF Centre, Dighi Camp, Pune-411015’.
