Major Drug Bust at Ranchi Railway Station: 61 Kilograms of Marijuana Seized, Three Arrested

Ranchi, June 1: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has made a significant drug seizure at Ranchi Railway Station, recovering 61 kilograms of marijuana as part of an ongoing anti-drug trafficking operation. Three young men from Bihar have been arrested in connection with this case. The estimated value of the seized marijuana is approximately ₹30.50 lakh.

On Monday, RPF officials reported that a special inspection operation was conducted under “Operation Narcos.” A joint team from the RPF Flying Squad, RPF Post Ranchi, and the RPF Crime Branch carried out the operation at Ranchi Railway Station.

During the operation, the team observed three suspicious individuals traveling in coach B-3 of train number 18309, the Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express. They were carrying four trolley bags and three backpacks. Upon questioning, the suspects admitted that their bags contained marijuana. The trio was subsequently disembarked at Namkum Railway Station for a thorough legal inspection.

The search revealed a total of 61 packets of marijuana, weighing 61 kilograms. Additionally, three mobile phones were confiscated. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ayush Singh (22), Prince Kumar (21), and Ankit Pathak (19), all residents of Buxar district in Bihar.

Under the direction of RPF Assistant Security Commissioner Pratap Singh Negi, the substance was confirmed to be marijuana using a DD kit. The RPF has seized the marijuana, mobile phones, and other items. The three suspects have been handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) Ranchi along with a written FIR for further legal action.

Authorities have stated that continuous monitoring and inspection operations are being conducted in railway premises and trains to combat drug trafficking. Investigations are underway to determine the source of the marijuana shipment and its intended destination.
