Beijing, March 30: The Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, Song Tao, announced on Monday that since taking office, KMT Chair Cheng Li-wen has consistently expressed her desire to visit mainland China.

To promote the peaceful development of relations between the Kuomintang (KMT) and the CPC, as well as to enhance ties across the Taiwan Strait, I am authorized to announce that the CPC Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping welcome Chair Cheng Li-wen and invite her to lead a KMT delegation on a visit to Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Beijing from April 7 to 12.

Song Tao stated that discussions regarding Chair Cheng Li-wen’s visit will be held with the KMT to make appropriate arrangements.

On the same day, the KMT Chair’s office confirmed that the CPC Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping have extended an invitation for her to lead a delegation to the mainland. Chair Cheng expressed her gratitude and gladly accepted the invitation.
