
New Delhi, May 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday. The primary aim of this trip is to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE.
During his visit, PM Modi will meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders will discuss ways to enhance mutual relations, energy cooperation, and the partnership between the two nations.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated, “Both leaders will also explore methods to advance the bilateral ‘comprehensive strategic partnership’. This partnership is based on strong political, cultural, economic ties, and people-to-people connections. This visit is expected to boost significant trade and investment relations between the two countries.”
According to official sources, energy security will be a major focus during PM Modi’s visit. Two crucial agreements related to LPG and strategic petroleum storage may be signed. The Ministry noted that the UAE is India’s third-largest trading partner. With over 4.5 million Indians residing in the UAE, discussions will also cover the interests and welfare of the Indian community there.
Sibi George, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, informed the media that PM Modi will be on a six-day foreign trip. In addition to the UAE, he will also visit the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy. In the second phase of his trip, PM Modi will visit the Netherlands, marking his second visit to the country since 2017. George mentioned that during this visit, he will meet with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, as well as hold talks with Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
Following this, PM Modi will travel to Gothenburg, Sweden, where he will engage in bilateral talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. Both nations will discuss new opportunities to enhance trade and cooperation.
PM Modi and the Swedish Prime Minister will also address the major European industry platform, the ‘European Round Table for Industry,’ which will be attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
In the fourth phase of his trip, PM Modi will arrive in Norway on Monday to participate in the third India-Nordic Summit and engage in several bilateral meetings.
The final leg of the tour will take PM Modi to Italy on Tuesday, where he will meet with President Sergio Mattarella and hold discussions with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
