Rare Auspicious Event on Jyestha Adhik Maas Full Moon: Enhance Your Fortune Through Charity and Chanting

New Delhi, May 29: The Jyestha Adhik Maas Shukla Paksha Full Moon falls on Saturday. It is believed that acts of charity, chanting, and fasting performed on this day are significantly more beneficial than on other full moons.

According to the Padma Purana, the arrival of Adhik Maas occurs only once every three years. Worshiping Lord Vishnu, bathing in sacred rivers, and giving donations on this day yield multiplied rewards.

As per the Drik Panchang, on Saturday, the Sun will be in Taurus, while the Moon will be in Libra. The Abhijit Muhurat will begin at 11:51 AM and last until 12:46 PM, while Rahukal will occur from 8:51 AM to 10:35 AM.

The full moon of Adhik Maas is known as ‘Sarva Siddhi Dayini,’ meaning it fulfills all desires. It is believed that fasting, bathing in holy rivers, and donating according to one’s ability on this auspicious date can yield thousands of times more merit than on regular days.

This date is dedicated to Lord Narayan (Vishnu). Observing a fast and reciting the Satyanarayan Katha on this day brings prosperity and abundance to the household. To perform special prayers, one should wake up early during Brahma Muhurat, complete their morning rituals (ideally bathing with Ganga water), and wear clean or yellow garments. Sprinkle Ganga water in the home temple, place a seat covered with yellow or red cloth, and install an idol or picture of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Offer flowers, fruits, sandalwood, rice, and light incense and lamps, ensuring to include Tulsi leaves in the offerings. Listening to or reading the Satyanarayan Katha is also recommended, along with chanting the ‘Vishnu Sahasranama’ or the mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya.’

Due to the heat in the month of Jyestha, donating items such as water-filled pots, sattu, mangoes, melons, fans, clothes, or grains on the full moon is considered highly meritorious. It is encouraged to give donations to the needy or Brahmins according to one’s capacity.
