New Delhi, May 19: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for energy conservation and self-reliance, BJP leaders and ministers are taking proactive steps. Central Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and Savitri Thakur, among others, have emphasized the need to conserve fuel, utilize public transport, and reduce gold purchases. They urge citizens to support PM Modi’s initiative.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that given the global circumstances, PM Modi has called for collective efforts towards energy conservation and self-reliance. The public is responding seriously, with all sectors participating in energy-saving measures.
During a meeting with officials, Chouhan announced that, barring special circumstances, they have resolved not to purchase gold for one year. Additionally, they pledged to promote natural farming and balanced fertilizer use. The “Save the Fields” campaign will see scientists visiting villages to advise on appropriate fertilizer use based on soil needs, aiming to prevent unnecessary fertilizer application.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak noted that following PM Modi’s appeal, everyone is conserving energy. He personally uses an electric vehicle.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma remarked that despite challenging conditions, petrol and diesel are available. He criticized the opposition for spreading rumors, highlighting that neighboring countries face much higher fuel prices. He reassured that there is currently no shortage in India, as the nation stands united with the Prime Minister.
He emphasized that conserving fuel and minimizing gold purchases are crucial for the country’s progress. He advised people to buy less gold and only when necessary, as India produces limited gold and relies on imports, which affects foreign currency reserves.
Central Minister Savitri Thakur shared that she is using an e-rickshaw and supports the Prime Minister’s appeal. She encourages the public to join in this initiative, stating that they have also reduced the number of vehicles in their convoy.
Minister Pankaj Singh from the Delhi government expressed that they are supporting the Prime Minister’s appeal by conserving energy. He is optimistic that the Prime Minister will guide the nation through this crisis and that public transport connectivity in Delhi is being enhanced.
He mentioned that he traveled by bus and metro, receiving positive feedback from the public. He plans to listen to their concerns and work towards solutions.
Rajya Sabha member Radha Mohan Agarwal noted that appeals for energy conservation and reduced gold purchases are not new. Whenever the country faces crises, the Prime Minister and Finance Minister have reached out to citizens. He commended PM Modi for making this appeal proactively.
