Major Conference on National Security and Development Strategy to be Held in New Delhi on May 19

New Delhi, May 19: A significant conference featuring senior military officials and experts is set to take place in New Delhi. The event will focus on how India can enhance its strategic power through military, diplomatic, economic, and technological capabilities amidst changing global challenges. General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Indian Army, will be a key participant.

According to the army, the seminar is organized by the Centre for Land Warfare Studies and will be held on May 19. Titled “Security for Prosperity: Smart Power for Sustainable National Development,” the seminar aims to foster extensive discussions on the synergy between India’s national security, economic strategy, and technological innovation.

Notably, the Centre for Land Warfare Studies is an autonomous strategic think tank of the Indian Army. It conducts research on ground warfare, strategic issues, and the ideological aspects of international security. This high-level seminar will see participation from policymakers, diplomats, senior defense officials, industry representatives, and strategic experts.

The primary goal of the event is to understand how India can integrate its military, diplomatic, economic, and technological capabilities to strengthen its strategic power in light of the evolving global landscape and increasing geopolitical challenges. General Upendra Dwivedi will serve as the chief guest at the seminar.

During the program, there will be a special focus on the concept of “Smart Power.” This discussion will explore how India can ensure long-term development and security by combining military strength with economic resilience, technological self-reliance, effective diplomacy, and the capacity of national institutions.

Defense experts believe that security and prosperity are deeply interconnected in today’s world. Economic progress for any nation is contingent upon its security framework, especially in the face of global conflicts, supply chain disruptions, cyber threats, technological competition, and maritime security challenges. Thus, the “Smart Power” policy is emerging as a strategic necessity for India.

The seminar will also delve into topics such as strategic autonomy, self-reliance in defense production, the use of new technologies, economic security, and India’s role in the Indo-Pacific region. Additionally, discussions will address how India can strengthen its emerging global role while ensuring sustainable development and protecting national interests.

This event is expected to yield several important recommendations for policymaking and national security strategy. These suggestions could significantly contribute to India’s long-term development trajectory and enhance its global strategic position in the coming years.
