Odisha Government Launches Ama Gaonre Ama Tehsil Initiative to Deliver Revenue Services at Doorstep

Bhubaneswar, May 19: The Odisha government is set to launch the ‘Ama Gaonre Ama Tehsil’ (Tehsil at Every Home) program to provide revenue services directly to citizens’ doorsteps.

The primary aim of this initiative is to strengthen governance at the grassroots level and enhance access to services for the public. This program will be implemented by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department.

According to an official statement from the department, the initiative will be executed under the guidance of Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari.

Under this program, officials from the Revenue Department will conduct ‘Tehsil Camp Courts’ at village and panchayat levels across the state in the coming days. This will allow them to address complaints and deliver various revenue services directly to the people.

Previously, citizens had to visit tehsil offices to avail themselves of different services from the Revenue Department. However, with these camp courts, tehsil officers will now reach villages directly to resolve complaints promptly and provide essential services such as corrections in land records, land demarcation, and other revenue-related tasks.

The department has stated that the minister has also instructed that grievances related to revenue services be addressed through these camp courts to ensure quick service delivery.

During a high-level meeting held in Bhubaneswar on Monday, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari directed officials to ensure that revenue services effectively reach every citizen.

The meeting also involved a detailed discussion on the achievements of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department over the past two years.

The minister emphasized that what we consider our achievements are not true successes; rather, the plans and initiatives that the common people recognize and appreciate are our real accomplishments. In this context, several new initiatives and future work plans of the department were also discussed.

The department announced that senior officials at the state level would be assigned responsibilities as nodal officers for different districts. They have been instructed to visit their respective districts in the coming days.

During these visits, senior officials will spend nights in the districts, engage with the public to gather feedback on government revenue services, and raise awareness about the department’s key citizen-oriented services.

The Revenue Minister also directed the simplification of rules regarding the classification of agricultural land in urban areas.

The meeting highlighted that over 25 million revenue services have been provided under the Odisha Public Services Rights Act in the past two years, with efforts underway to make these services even more citizen-centric in the future.

The department also stated that a new ‘Rehabilitation and Resettlement Framework’ for displaced persons will soon be developed and implemented.
