CBI Achieves Major Breakthrough in Chandranath Rath Murder Case with Arrest of Fugitive Shooter

Mumbai, May 19: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made a significant breakthrough in the high-profile Chandranath Rath murder case from West Bengal. A fugitive accused has been apprehended in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. The arrested individual has been identified as Rajkumar Singh, who is reported to be a sharp shooter associated with the gang involved in the murder. He was captured on Monday at the Chhappar toll plaza along the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway.

According to reports, the CBI has been actively searching for the suspects since the murder of Chandranath Rath, who was the personal assistant to the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari. The agency received a tip-off indicating that the accused was traveling through Muzaffarnagar towards Haridwar. Subsequently, a team from the CBI, in collaboration with local Chhappar police, set up a trap and arrested him at the toll plaza.

Rajkumar Singh, son of Tribhuvan Narayan Singh, hails from Rattopur village in the Rasra police station area of Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh. Investigating agencies have stated that he is an active member of the gang involved in the murder and is a skilled shooter. Following his arrest, he was presented in court, where the CBI obtained a transit remand to take him to Delhi.

The news of his arrest has stirred concern within his family. Tribhuvan Narayan Singh, Rajkumar’s father, revealed that his son left home three days prior without disclosing his destination. On Monday morning, they received a call from the CBI informing them of his arrest in connection with the murder of Suvendu Adhikari’s PA.

Tribhuvan Narayan Singh expressed hope that a fair investigation by the CBI would reveal the truth. He claimed that their family has no ties to West Bengal and mentioned that he has previously worked as an electrician on the Ayodhya Ram Temple construction project, having been at home since March.

Reports indicate that Rajkumar Singh has limited education, having only completed the first year of his undergraduate studies. In 2022, he was involved in a physical altercation over a drainage dispute, resulting in a case being filed against him under the Harijan Act.

Currently, the CBI is interrogating the accused and continues to search for other individuals connected to the Chandranath Rath murder case.
