New Delhi, May 19: BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala has hailed the highest honor awarded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Sweden as a recognition for the entire nation. He launched a scathing attack on the opposition, particularly targeting Congress, Samajwadi Party, and TMC, while addressing statements made by Sanjay Raut, Digvijaya Singh, and Arshad Madani. Poonawala also criticized Congress for its stance on Vande Mataram and the political situation in Kerala.
In an interview, Poonawala remarked that when the nation is honored, certain leaders like Sanjay Raut engage in petty politics. He referred to Raut’s past comments regarding the West Bengal elections, where he claimed that the Election Commission was compromised after a positive remark from Donald Trump’s office. Poonawala emphasized that these leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, have been rejected by the people.
Regarding the Bhojshala issue, Poonawala labeled Congress as an anti-Hindu party. He claimed that as soon as a decision favored Hindus’ right to worship at Bhojshala, Rahul Gandhi instructed Digvijaya Singh to speak against it. Poonawala criticized Gandhi’s comments about girls visiting temples and suggested that it is not Islamic terror groups that are dangerous, but rather Hindu terror groups.
He accused Digvijaya Singh of opposing the court’s decision on Bhojshala and framing it as a Hindu-Muslim issue, questioning whether the court intended to create such a divide. This, he argued, reflects Congress’s anti-Hindu DNA.
Poonawala congratulated Kerala’s Chief Minister VD Satheesan but clarified that he is not a Congress CM but a CM of the Muslim League. He noted that Congress legislators had different views but were compelled to support Satheesan due to pressure from groups like Jamaat, PFI, and the Muslim League, which were also granted 20% of ministries.
He highlighted the unrest caused by Muslim League leaders on the streets, warning that slogans like “Sirr Tan Se Juda” would become more common, indicating a push towards establishing a Sharia-compliant state in Kerala. Poonawala accused Congress of capitulating to jihadists and Islamic forces.
Criticizing those who oppose Vande Mataram, Poonawala stated that some individuals physically present in India have their minds in Pakistan, leading them to repeatedly oppose the national song. He pointed out that these are the same people who find “Sirr Tan Se Juda” acceptable while labeling Vande Mataram as communal. Arshad Madani’s remarks were singled out, as he can support Palestine and Pakistan but objects to Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram.
Poonawala asserted that Congress, SP, and TMC back individuals like Madani while opposing Vande Mataram themselves. He emphasized that the issue lies not with Madani but with the support he receives from Congress.
BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli defended Vande Mataram, stating it is a national song that has been sung since the freedom struggle. He questioned how those who advocate for constitutional rights could deny singing Vande Mataram, asserting that India’s Constitution will prevail.
