New Chandigarh, May 28: In the IPL 2026 eliminator match, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced a 47-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday. The loss at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium marked the end of SRH’s journey in the tournament. Captain Pat Cummins acknowledged that losing wickets at critical times cost the team dearly.
After the eliminator loss, Cummins stated, “I believe we were in the game for most of the time and maintained the run rate. However, we lost a few wickets at the wrong moments, which made the chase difficult, although we gave ourselves a good chance.”
Cummins expressed satisfaction at reaching the playoffs twice in the last three years. He remarked, “Yes, that’s true. I think we were just a little short of making it to the top two. What more can you ask from the players? Everyone performed excellently and played great cricket.”
He also praised the explosive innings of 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Rajasthan Royals, saying, “Yes, Vaibhav played a fantastic innings. I think you don’t have many options against him. Clearly, it was a good pitch, but there were very few chances to make mistakes. If you miss a yorker against him, he won’t let you off.”
In the eliminator match, Rajasthan Royals batted first, scoring 243 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi dazzled with a powerful 97 runs off just 29 balls, while Dhruv Jurel contributed 50 runs off only 21 balls. Chasing a target of 244 runs, SRH was bowled out for 196 runs.
