
Mumbai, May 27: Rajasthan Royals (RR) clinched a spot in Qualifier 2 by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 47 runs in the Eliminator match. They will face Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 29. The victorious team will meet Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final on May 31.
Batting first at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Rajasthan Royals scored 243 runs, losing 8 wickets. The opening pair of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a stellar start, putting together a 125-run partnership off just 48 balls.
Vaibhav reached his half-century in just 16 balls, scoring 97 runs off 29 deliveries, including 12 sixes and 5 fours. Jaiswal contributed 29 runs from 29 balls. RR lost both openers with the score at 137.
Captain Riyan Parag then partnered with Dhruv Jurel for the third wicket, adding 55 runs in 21 balls. Dhruv scored 50 runs off 21 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 5 fours. Donovan Ferreira and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with 12 runs each.
For SRH, Praful Hinge was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 54 runs. Ishan Kishan, Shivang Kumar, and Nitish Reddy each claimed one wicket.
In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad collapsed to 196 runs in 19.2 overs. They suffered an early blow with Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal for a duck. Ishan Kishan and Travis Head formed a brief partnership, scoring 51 runs off just 15 balls for the second wicket. However, after Ishan’s departure for 33 runs, the team struggled.
SRH lost 5 wickets for just 81 runs within 6.5 overs. Salil Arora and Nitish Reddy managed to add 56 runs for the sixth wicket, but it was not enough to secure victory.
Nitish scored 38 runs, while Salil contributed 35 runs. Shivang Kumar added 27 runs to the total. For RR, Jofra Archer was the leading wicket-taker with 3 wickets. Nandre Burger, Sushant Mishra, and Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets each, while Yash Raj claimed 1 wicket.
