
New Delhi, May 28: The national capital is currently experiencing extreme heat. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures in several areas of New Delhi soared above 45 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
The highest temperature recorded was 45.6 degrees Celsius in the Ridge area, followed closely by 45.4 degrees Celsius in Ayanagar, and 44.6 degrees Celsius in both Palam and Lodhi Road. Safdarjung recorded a temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius.
The weather department has issued a heat wave warning for May 27, advising residents to stay vigilant and stay hydrated with the message, “Stay Safe, Stay Hydrated.”
Fortunately, there is some relief in sight for the residents of New Delhi. The IMD forecasts that while no significant change in temperature is expected in the next 24 hours, a drop of 6 to 8 degrees Celsius is anticipated over the following three days. Additionally, the minimum temperature may decrease by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius during this period.
The weather forecast for May 28 indicates that the sky will be partially cloudy, with clouds expected to increase later in the day. Strong surface winds may blow at speeds of 20 to 30 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 40 kilometers per hour. Light rain, along with thunder and winds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour, may occur in the evening and night, with some areas experiencing wind speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour.
On May 29, the weather is expected to be even more active, with overcast skies throughout the day. Light rain, thunder, and strong winds of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour are predicted, with gusts potentially reaching 80 kilometers per hour.
Cloudy conditions, light rain, and winds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour are also expected on May 30. By May 31, the skies will remain partially cloudy, with the possibility of light rain, thunder, and strong winds continuing.
