Rajasthan Police Launches Month-Long Campaign Against Child Labor and Human Trafficking

Jaipur, May 28: Rajasthan Police is set to initiate a month-long statewide campaign named ‘Umang-VII’ aimed at combating child labor, bonded child labor, and child-related human trafficking.

According to directives issued by Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar Sharma, the campaign will run from June 1 to June 30, 2026. The primary goal is to effectively control serious social evils such as child labor and trafficking, ensuring the rescue and rehabilitation of affected children.

In this regard, Additional Director General of Police (Civil Rights and AHT) Hawa Singh Ghumariya has provided detailed guidelines to all police commissioners, range Inspector Generals (IGs), Deputy Commissioners of Police, and District Superintendents of Police across the state, including the Government Railway Police (GRP) units in Ajmer and Jodhpur.

The police headquarters has instructed that the campaign be implemented with utmost sensitivity, coordination, and efficiency. To ensure effective execution, officers of the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police will be appointed as nodal officers in each district. District Superintendents of Police have been directed to establish close coordination with all departments and stakeholders involved in the campaign.

Under this initiative, joint strategies will be developed through meetings with the Departments of Social Justice and Empowerment, Women and Child Development, Labor, Child Rights, Child Welfare Committees, shelters, child homes, and various non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

The police headquarters has also directed the formation of special rescue teams at the police station level in each district. Each team will consist of four police personnel, including a Sub-Inspector (SI) or Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI).

Before the campaign begins, these teams will receive specialized training to ensure effective identification and action on cases related to child labor and human trafficking. Representatives from the Departments of Women and Child Development, Social Welfare, Child Empowerment, Child Welfare Committees, and NGOs will also collaborate with these teams to conduct the rescue and rehabilitation efforts in a coordinated and sensitive manner.
