Over 6,000 Workers from Uttar Pradesh Safe in Israel Amid Tensions

Lucknow, April 5: Amid ongoing tensions in Israel, over 6,000 workers from Uttar Pradesh are reported to be completely safe. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, regular monitoring of these workers is being conducted. Principal Secretary of Labour and Employment, Dr. Shanmuga Sundaram, is in continuous contact with the Indian Embassy in Israel, keeping a close watch on the situation of Indians, especially the workers from Uttar Pradesh.

According to information received from the embassy, all Indian workers in Israel are safe, and there are currently no reports of emergencies or significant threats. Dr. Shanmuga Sundaram is consistently updating himself on the status of Uttar Pradesh workers in coordination with India’s Ambassador to Israel, JP Singh.

Dr. Sundaram stated that he has been in regular telephone communication with Ambassador JP Singh. In messages shared on March 11, 17, and 28, the ambassador confirmed that all Indian workers, including those from Uttar Pradesh, are safe. He mentioned that while there is naturally some concern due to the current circumstances, there has been no significant pressure or demand from any worker to return to India. The embassy is in constant touch with everyone and is addressing their needs.

The ambassador also noted that some workers from Uttar Pradesh recently hosted journalists who had traveled from India, indicating that the situation is under control and that workers are leading normal lives. The First Secretary of the Indian Embassy, Dr. Garika Tejeshwar, also confirmed during discussions with the Principal Secretary that all workers from Uttar Pradesh are safe, with no reports of any unpleasant incidents so far. She added that some Indian citizens, primarily traders and students, have voluntarily returned, and the embassy assisted them in their travel via Jordan. Arrangements can also be made for any worker wishing to return.

Dr. Sundaram reported that the embassy’s control room has not received any serious or emergency messages to date, and all workers are adhering to local safety guidelines. The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is closely monitoring the situation. Principal Secretary of Labour, Dr. Shanmuga Sundaram, is regularly in touch with the embassy to review the status of the workers. The government’s priority is to ensure the safety of all workers abroad and to provide them with all possible assistance when needed.

The message from the government has clearly reached the workers in Uttar Pradesh: the government stands by them in any circumstance, and they will receive all possible help if they wish to return home.

Dr. Sundaram also mentioned that a call center operated by Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority is actively assisting Indian workers, providing support in various languages. He noted that while missile attacks occur periodically in Israel, the situation for Indians, especially the workers from Uttar Pradesh, remains normal. Both the government and the embassy are monitoring the situation closely to ensure prompt action in case of any emergencies.
