Focus on English, Math, Science, and Holistic Development through Summer Residential Camps
Udaipur, May 27 – Hindustan Zinc’s flagship CSR initiative, Shiksha Sambal, is transforming rural education in Rajasthan, with more than 1,500 students from government schools across six districts benefiting this year. These students are participating in both residential and non-residential summer training camps aimed at improving learning outcomes in core academic subjects and fostering all-round personality development.

A Unique Summer for Rural Students
Instead of the usual vacation routine of leisure and play, over 300 students from regions including Zawar, Chittorgarh, Agucha, Dariba, Debari, Sirohi, and Kayad are spending an entire month away from home in residential learning camps. These camps offer 24-hour immersive programs featuring academic instruction, personality development, physical activities, and cultural sessions — all within a disciplined and nurturing environment that replicates a home-like atmosphere.
The initiative is being run by Hindustan Zinc in partnership with Vidya Bhawan Society, Udaipur, and spans across Udaipur, Salumber, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, and Ajmer. The program provides specialized education support in Mathematics, Science, and English, while also integrating sports, cultural programs, and skill-building activities.
8th Residential Camp Launched
The 8th annual residential summer camp was inaugurated at the Vidya Bhawan Auditorium. Scheduled from May 20 to June 18, the camp includes 200 students from Class 10, 50 from Class 8, and 50 from Class 12 (Science stream). These students, selected from various government schools, receive personalized academic guidance from subject experts.
In addition to classroom instruction, the residential camps feature digital learning, audio-visual content, hands-on activities, and creative projects such as clay modeling, pottery, robotics, and recycling-based crafts.
1,200 More Students in Non-Residential Camps
Alongside the Udaipur residential camps, non-residential summer camps are being conducted at six locations — Chittorgarh, Dariba, Debari, Ajmer, Agucha, and Zawar — involving over 1,200 students. These day camps are structured to deliver quality academic coaching during the vacation period and ensure students remain academically engaged.
20 Years of Educational Support
Started nearly two decades ago, Shiksha Sambal has been consistently addressing teacher shortages in government schools by providing subject specialists in Science, Mathematics, and English. The residential training camps, introduced experimentally nine years ago, have grown significantly in scale and impact, now being a cornerstone of Hindustan Zinc’s education outreach.
Speaking at the inauguration, Additional District Education Officer Murli Dhar Chaubisa, Anupam Nidhi (CSR Head, Vedanta & Hindustan Zinc), Rajendra Bhatt (CEO, Vidya Bhawan Society), and other dignitaries praised the initiative for empowering rural youth with academic confidence and life skills.
Through its thoughtful integration of academics and extracurriculars, Hindustan Zinc’s Shiksha Sambal continues to nurture the potential of rural children, helping them become confident, informed, and future-ready citizens.
