RCB Makes History with Record Playoff Score in IPL 2026

Dharamshala, May 26: In a remarkable display of cricket, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has etched its name in history during the first qualifier of IPL 2026. The match, held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, saw RCB face off against Gujarat Titans (GT). Under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, RCB achieved the highest score ever recorded in IPL playoff history.

Patidar, who batted at number four, maintained his impressive playoff record, showcasing his skills against GT’s bowlers. He scored an unbeaten 93 runs off just 33 balls, hitting 9 sixes and 5 fours. Thanks to his explosive performance, RCB posted a total of 254 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, setting a new playoff record.

Previously, the record for the highest score in IPL playoffs belonged to Gujarat Titans, who scored 233 runs for 3 wickets against Mumbai Indians in 2023.

In the realm of T20 cricket, the record for the highest score in knockout or playoff games is held by Somerset, who scored 265 runs for 5 wickets against Derbyshire in the 2012 T20 Blast quarter-finals. Jharkhand follows closely with 262 runs for 3 wickets against Haryana in the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. The Indian team also features prominently, having scored 255 runs against New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026. RCB’s score of 254 against Gujarat ranks fourth overall, with the Indian team also making the fifth spot for their 253 runs against England in the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals.

This marks RCB’s third significant score in IPL history. Previously, they scored 263 runs for 5 wickets against Pune Warriors India in 2013 and 262 runs for 7 wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2024.

In this match against Gujarat, a total of 38 boundaries were hit, including 14 sixes and 24 fours. This sets a new record for the most boundaries in an IPL knockout or playoff match. The previous record was held by Chennai Super Kings, who hit 33 boundaries against Delhi in 2012.
