Political Discourse Diverts from Development to Hindu-Muslim Issues, Says ST Hasan

Mumbai, May 26: The political landscape surrounding the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid) has intensified, with former Samajwadi Party MP ST Hasan criticizing the Congress party. He claims that the BJP is preoccupied with Hindu-Muslim issues, aiming solely to disturb the Muslim community.

In a recent conversation, Hasan pointed out that the nation’s most pressing problems—development, employment, agriculture, health, and education—are being overshadowed by the Hindu-Muslim debate. He described this situation as unfortunate, as it fosters division within society and erodes trust among people.

Hasan accused certain political parties of deliberately raising contentious issues that create tension. He emphasized that such actions not only deteriorate the social atmosphere but also divert attention from critical questions affecting ordinary citizens. He asserted that the purpose of politics should be the welfare of the people, rather than dividing them along religious lines.

Responding to Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane’s comments about a ‘virtual Bakrid,’ Hasan suggested that those raising questions should reflect on their own past and family history. He noted, “Nitesh Rane’s father was involved in the goat trade, and they had meat shops where all kinds of meat were sold. Even today, there is a restaurant named after his mother that serves non-vegetarian food. These BJP members have many faces; when you peel back their layers, their true nature is revealed.”

Additionally, Hasan made an appeal regarding Bakrid, stating that the festival symbolizes sacrifice and humanity, and should be celebrated with peace and respect. He urged that no one’s feelings should be hurt in the process. He called on people to ensure that sacrifices are conducted in a manner that does not disturb the surrounding environment and stressed the importance of adhering to laws prohibiting the sacrifice of banned animals.
