Patna, May 26: A tragic incident occurred at the Rajgir Malmas Mela in Bihar’s Nalanda district, where a 25-year-old man died after falling from the ‘Tsunami’ ride. Reports indicate that the safety belt may have been loose at the time of the accident.
The victim has been identified as Aman Kumar, the son of Vipin Kumar, and a resident of Mikkhu village in the Nawada district.
According to officials, Aman attended the fair with family members and relatives on Monday night. The incident took place around 11:50 PM, while his cousin Prince was with him.
After purchasing tickets, both decided to ride the ‘Tsunami’. Shortly after the ride started, Aman’s balance reportedly faltered when his safety belt came undone, causing him to fall and sustain severe injuries.
Local residents assisted in getting the injured man to the Rajgir Sub-Divisional Hospital for emergency treatment. Following initial care, he was referred to the Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences in Pawapuri for better treatment. However, his condition deteriorated, leading doctors to transfer him to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), where he tragically passed away en route.
Rajgir’s SDPO Sanjeet Kumar Gupta confirmed the incident, stating that the police have seized the ‘Tsunami’ ride and initiated legal action against the ride operator under relevant sections of the law.
A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team has been called in to investigate the incident. In light of this fatal accident, authorities have temporarily halted all major rides and entertainment attractions at the fair until further notice.
This incident has raised serious concerns regarding safety standards and maintenance of amusement rides during large public fairs in Bihar.
