Beijing, May 26: According to the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission, investments in new types of power grids during the 15th Five-Year Plan period are expected to exceed 50 trillion yuan.
The construction of these new power grids is crucial for ensuring energy security and promoting green development. Currently, China has established a vast, secure, and technologically advanced national electricity grid that effectively guarantees the country’s annual electricity consumption of over 10 trillion kilowatt-hours.
Li Chao, deputy director of the policy research office and spokesperson for the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that the demand for the integration of renewable energy in China is continuously rising. There is increasing pressure from the imbalance between regional electricity supply and demand, as well as growing complexities in the safe operation of power grids at all levels.
There is a pressing need for a new type of power grid that is safer, more reliable, environmentally friendly, low in carbon emissions, flexible, intelligent, and adaptable.
Currently, several projects for the construction of new types of power grids are being accelerated across the country, aiding in the adjustment and optimization of energy structures.
