In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Puducherry, the ECI stated that Prakash was selected from a panel of three IAS officers recommended by the Puducherry government.
The letter, written by ECI’s Principal Secretary Rahul Sharma, confirmed Ravi Prakash’s appointment as the CEO of Puducherry.
The Election Commission also instructed the Union Territory’s government to republish the notification regarding the CEO’s appointment in the Puducherry State Gazette and to send a copy to the commission for its records.
The letter emphasized that Ravi Prakash should assume office as the Chief Electoral Officer immediately, with a compliance report to be submitted within a week.
