Greater Noida, May 26: The Gautam Buddh Nagar police have taken a firm stance against illegal mining and overloading. On May 23 and 24, they conducted a special checking campaign in collaboration with traffic police and the transport department. This extensive operation targeted mining sites and major routes across the district.
During the two-day campaign, strict actions were taken against drivers violating regulations. Authorities reported that a total of 61 mining sites underwent thorough inspections. In total, 447 dumpers and trucks transporting mining materials were checked. Out of these, 101 vehicles were found to be overloaded, exceeding their designated capacity. Such vehicles increase the risk of road accidents and cause significant damage to the roads.
In the joint operation by police and the transport department, 89 overloaded vehicles were fined, while 12 were seized. Additionally, a total of ₹4,99,000 was collected as a penalty from the respective drivers and operators for rule violations.
Another significant irregularity was uncovered during the campaign. The inspection revealed that 309 dumpers and trucks were operating without number plates. Vehicles without number plates pose a serious threat to law and order, as they are difficult to identify.
In response, police took strict action, issuing fines to 283 vehicles and seizing 26. During this operation, ₹75,000 was collected as a penalty. The Gautam Buddh Nagar police have stated that this campaign against illegal mining, overloading, and the operation of vehicles without number plates will continue.
Officials have made it clear that strict actions will be taken against violators in the future to enhance road safety and effectively control illegal activities. Police officials have urged the public and vehicle operators to adhere to traffic rules and operate vehicles according to established standards. The administration believes that such special campaigns will not only help curb illegal mining but also play a crucial role in reducing road accidents and improving traffic management.
