
Mumbai, May 26: The Maharashtra government has taken a significant step to boost industrial investment and employment. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, a cabinet subcommittee for the industry department has approved special incentives for five mega and ultra-mega projects worth approximately ₹89,731 crore.
The government anticipates that these projects will generate around 20,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, accelerating industrial development across various regions in Maharashtra.
During this crucial meeting held in Mumbai, Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that these investments would foster the development of a modern industrial ecosystem in areas such as Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Nashik. He explained that the state’s industrial policy provides various incentives and facilities to industries through a collective incentive scheme. This cabinet subcommittee was established to attract large investments and enhance employment opportunities.
Present at the meeting were Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar, Industry Minister Uday Samant, Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, Principal Secretary of the Industry Department Dr. P. Amblagan, CEO of MIDC P. Velarasu, and several senior officials.
The cabinet subcommittee approved five projects that are linked to high-tech and future technologies. These include sectors such as coal gasification and related products, solar cell modules, ingots and wafer panels, electric steel, PET tire cord, and synthetic graphite anode material. The government asserts that these projects will lead to rapid expansion in Maharashtra’s high-tech manufacturing sector.
According to government sources, these mega projects will not only increase investment and employment but also strengthen local businesses, ancillary industries, and supply chains. Additionally, they will promote research, technology, and innovation, creating new opportunities for small and medium enterprises.
Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized that these projects will generate new training and skill development opportunities for local youth, aiding them in securing jobs in modern technical fields.
