Ranchi, April 15: Ranchi police have uncovered a significant interstate network involved in illegal arms trafficking, leading to the arrest of three main suspects. Investigations revealed that this gang was transporting weapons from Bihar to various regions in Jharkhand. The arrested individuals have been identified as Vishal Singh from Mandar, Abhishek Sharma from Chanho, and Karan Gop.
Rural SP Praveen Pushkar disclosed that the breakthrough occurred during a vehicle check in the McCluskieganj area on the night of April 13. Police intercepted a suspicious Scorpio vehicle and discovered pistols and cartridges with two young men. Upon interrogation, they revealed that Vishal Singh from Karge village in Mandar was supplying them with the weapons.
Acting swiftly, police raided Vishal Singh’s residence and apprehended him. Shockingly, it was found that he had turned his home into a stockpile for illegal arms. Vishal informed the police that Abhishek Sharma was responsible for delivering the weapons, which he brought from Bihar and sold at inflated prices.
Abhishek has a prior record of cases under the Arms Act. To dismantle the entire network, police encircled the Hatma forest in Mandar, leading to the arrest of Abhishek Sharma and his associate Karan Gop. During this operation, law enforcement seized three country-made pistols, ten live rounds, four magazines, and two mobile phones from the criminals. According to police, the gang initially operated on a small scale but gradually expanded its network across multiple regions of the state.
Based on information from the arrested suspects, police have identified other individuals involved in this illegal trade. Authorities state that raids are being conducted at potential hideouts to apprehend additional members of the gang, with further significant arrests expected soon.
