New Delhi, April 10: Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, the national spokesperson for the Janata Dal (United), stated on Friday that voter participation in the assembly elections of Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry has reached unprecedented levels. He noted that early trends indicate a strong position for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in these key states.
Speaking to reporters, Prasad remarked, “Voters have participated in record numbers. Based on current trends, the NDA appears to be heading towards forming a government in Assam and Puducherry by a significant margin. In Kerala, the traditional battle between the LDF and UDF continues, but the BJP has increased its vote share in every election. Thus, a major shift could occur for the BJP and its allies.”
It is noteworthy that the elections held on Thursday saw record voting in Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry. Voter turnout in Assam reached an all-time high of 85.91%, while Puducherry recorded a total of 89.87% participation. Kerala saw a voter turnout of 78.27%. The counting of votes in these states is scheduled for May 4.
Meanwhile, the JD(U) spokesperson claimed that the BJP would win in West Bengal, where voting will take place on April 23 and 29. He stated, “Every day, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s popularity is declining. She is now almost concluding that the Trinamool Congress will not return to power.”
Rajiv Ranjan Prasad highlighted that issues such as law and order, closed factories, and employment concerns are being raised prominently across Bengal. People believe that if the BJP forms the government, the state will benefit from having an NDA government at the center. Consequently, voter sentiment is rapidly shifting towards the BJP.
In response to questions raised by Tejashwi Yadav regarding law and order in Bihar, Prasad said, “He raised similar questions during the assembly elections, but voters firmly acknowledged the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the NDA’s achievements, giving them a mandate. While he continues to raise issues, it is true that Bihar is among the states with better law and order in the country. The public trusts Bihar’s model of good governance.”
