Beijing, June 5: The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has recently announced the launch of a special pilot project aimed at promoting innovation and development in 6G technology. This initiative will be executed in collaboration with various provinces.
According to the action plan, multiple independent and innovative 6G technology solutions are expected to be developed through this ministry-province collaborative pilot program by the year 2029. Additionally, new and promising business application scenarios will be promoted, and a variety of new terminal products will be introduced to the market. This is anticipated to provide strong support for the commercialization of 6G.
The pilot program will advance research on integrated communication technologies and system architectures, including artificial intelligence, satellite internet, and wireless sensing. Furthermore, collaboration will be strengthened in the development of 6G standards and industrial research and development.
To support the commercial use of 6G, the plan includes enhancing research and development in communication equipment industries such as 6G base stations, core networks, data transport networks, and specialized devices and meters. It will also promote the development of new terminals, chip devices, operating systems, and commercial aerospace related to 6G, while fostering the establishment of 6G-based industrial clusters at the local level.
Moreover, potential 6G application areas will be developed according to local conditions, focusing on virtual experience communication, low-altitude economy, augmented artificial intelligence, and intelligent marine systems.
