New Delhi, June 5: RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha has provided a detailed clarification regarding a viral letter linked to the booking of the Constitution Club for the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP). He emphasized that he only facilitated a venue for a press conference and did not endorse any movement or organization.
Jha stated, “I am very clear about any event that lacks a defined ideology. I had previously written during the 2012-13 movement that no comments should be made on movements without a clear ideological framework.”
Explaining the context of the viral letter, he mentioned, “You have seen my letter. If you read its content, you will find that it involves a journalist I was connected with on social media, along with some senior colleagues from Delhi University. At that time, I was at the hospital with my father. I was merely informed that a press conference needed to be organized. I typically assist civil society groups every few days.”
Jha further pointed out that the letter explicitly mentions the press conference. He criticized the media, saying, “I see many colleagues questioning my intentions without verifying facts or reading the original content of the letter.”
He acknowledged that a positive outcome has emerged from this controversy, stating, “In the future, if anyone requests a venue, I will ensure a thorough investigation.”
The RJD MP reiterated, “My stance on this matter is very clear, and I have already written about it. Until an organization’s ideology is clearly defined, it is inappropriate to comment on it piecemeal. As for the political organization in question, our understanding of its ideology remains unclear.”
Commenting on the recent appointment of Ritabrata Banerjee as the opposition leader in the West Bengal Assembly, Jha remarked, “This is not just a crisis for the Trinamool Congress or West Bengal; it poses a threat to the democratic politics of the country. What happened with two political parties in Maharashtra has been repeated in an even more refined manner in West Bengal.”
