Devotees Flock to Baba Mahakal Temple for Bhasma Aarti

Ujjain, June 5: On the auspicious occasion of Panchami during the Krishna Paksha of Jyeshtha month, the Bhasma Aarti was performed at the Baba Mahakal Temple early Friday morning. The temple doors opened at 4 AM, welcoming devotees to witness the divine adornment of Baba Mahakal, embellished with Tripund, Trinetra, and the moon on his forehead. The atmosphere resonated with chants of “Jai Shri Mahakal.”

As the temple gates opened, the priests conducted a ceremonial abhishekam of Baba Mahakal with Hari Om water, Panchamrit, milk, and yogurt amidst the chanting of mantras. Following this, the Bhasma Aarti took place after the deity was beautifully adorned.

The chief priest led the Maha Aarti, drawing a large number of devotees eager to witness the Bhasma Aarti of Baba Mahakal. Many devotees were seen standing in long queues since late at night, eager to pay their respects to their beloved deity.

It is noteworthy that the temple doors were opened with the permission of Lord Veerabhadra, accompanied by the sounds of drums and trumpets. As the doors opened, the temple echoed with the joyous cries of “Jai Shri Mahakal.” The entire temple complex was filled with the sounds of bells, conch shells, and chanting.

After the doors were opened, water was first offered to the deity, followed by a divine abhishekam with Panchamrit made from milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, and sugar. Throughout this ceremony, the temple complex resonated with the chants of “Jai Shri Mahakal” and the sound of conch shells.

The ‘Nirakar to Sakar’ form of Baba Mahakal signifies the spiritual and philosophical transformation of Shiva, where the formless, infinite, and omnipresent Supreme Being (Nirakar) manifests in a specific and worship-worthy form (Sakar) for the welfare of devotees.
