
New Delhi, June 5: On World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to citizens and urged them to draw inspiration from the principle of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” He praised the “One Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign for its significant contributions.
In a post on X, he stated, “We take immense pride in our biodiversity. Our diverse ecosystems are the foundation for countless species and livelihoods. Our efforts in wildlife conservation have been commendable. The conservation initiatives for the Great Indian Bustard, snow leopards, sloth bears, and cheetahs demonstrate how sustained commitment can help restore wildlife and ecosystems. Initiatives like ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ have contributed significantly to adding approximately 119,000 hectares of forest area each year.”
In another post, PM Modi expressed appreciation for those dedicated to environmental protection. He wrote, “Warm wishes on World Environment Day. I commend all individuals committed to environmental conservation. This day reaffirms our commitment to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development. The numerous efforts made by our government over the past decade highlight our actions in this direction. Some of India’s major achievements include the expansion of green cover and the increase in populations of various wildlife species. The people of India have shown how collective efforts, policies, faith in science, and innovation can enhance our environment.”
PM Modi added that inspired by the principle of “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” we will continue to work towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable planet through the spirit of Mission Life.
Meanwhile, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy remarked on X, “On World Environment Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to protecting our planet and preserving its rich natural heritage. A sustainable future depends on the decisions we make today. By adopting environmentally conscious practices and promoting responsible management of our natural resources, we can create a cleaner, greener, and healthier world for future generations. Let us all work together towards a green and developed India.”
