Make Yoga a Daily Habit: Benefits of Tadasana Highlighted by AYUSH Ministry

New Delhi, June 5: International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21. In anticipation of this occasion, the AYUSH Ministry is actively working to raise awareness about yoga among the public. Recently, the ministry shared a post on the social media platform X, detailing the importance of yoga and the benefits of Tadasana.

The AYUSH Ministry stated, “Yoga does not mean performing difficult postures. It is about simple and natural activities that keep our bodies flexible. As we age, these yoga postures should become a part of our daily lives. Tadasana, or Mountain Pose, is one of the essential beginner poses in yoga. It provides a gentle stretch to the entire body and improves posture.”

According to the ministry, Tadasana offers a light stretch to the whole body and aids in enhancing body posture. It is considered one of the most important foundational poses in yoga.

Accompanying the post, a video was shared that demonstrates how to perform Tadasana. The video instructs viewers to stand straight and raise both arms overhead. Then, stretch the entire body upward while maintaining normal breathing for a few moments in this position.

Previously, on Thursday, the ministry mentioned that regular yoga practice could help alleviate common issues such as lower back pain. Many individuals struggle with back and waist pain due to a hectic lifestyle, prolonged sitting, and lack of physical activity. The AYUSH Ministry has identified yoga as a natural and effective remedy for these problems. They encourage people to adopt the mantra “Stay Yogi, Stay Disease-Free” to improve their health and prevent various health issues.

The ministry also provided recommendations for specific yoga poses and pranayama to relieve back and waist pain. These include Ardha Chakrasana, Setu Bandhasana, Kati Chakrasana, Vakrasana, Bhujangasana, and Surya Bhedana Pranayama. Regular practice of these exercises strengthens the back muscles and enhances spinal flexibility.
