Mini Truck Collides with Train in Tinsukia, Assam: Several Injured

Tinsukia, March 8: A tragic rail accident occurred in Tinsukia district of Assam on Saturday afternoon around 2 PM. A mini truck attempted to cross the railway tracks near Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya in the Lipuli area and collided violently with an oncoming train. The incident caused panic in the locality, prompting locals to rush to the scene.

According to police and railway officials, the train had received a green signal and was operating at its scheduled speed. However, the driver of the mini truck recklessly attempted to cross the railway line. The impact of the collision was so severe that the mini truck was extensively damaged, with its front completely crushed, sending dust and debris flying in the surrounding area.

Immediately after the incident, railway staff, local residents, and police teams arrived at the site to initiate rescue operations. Initial reports did not clarify the number of injuries, but it was confirmed that those aboard the mini truck sustained serious injuries. They were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Railway officials stated that no passengers on the train were injured, and the train was halted for a brief period.

The railway authorities have launched an investigation into the accident. Officials noted that drivers often ignore signals or crossing gates, leading to such dangerous actions that can result in major accidents. The railway has urged drivers, pedestrians, and vehicle operators to exercise caution at railway crossings, adhere to signals, and stop when gates are closed.

Officials indicated that action would be taken against those responsible once the investigation is complete, and necessary measures will be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.
