Kota, May 17: A significant fire erupted early Sunday in an AC coach of the Rajdhani Express traveling from Thiruvananthapuram to New Delhi. Fortunately, all passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
The incident occurred near the Vikramgarh Alot railway station in Kota around 5:15 AM, affecting the B-1 coach, which had 68 passengers on board.
Railway Protection Force personnel, along with railway staff and other officials, promptly initiated the evacuation process. Within approximately 15 minutes, the entire coach was cleared. As a precaution, nearby coaches were also evacuated.
Relief and rescue teams from the Kota railway division arrived at the scene immediately after the incident was reported. Authorities quickly detached the affected coach from the train and shut down the overhead electric supply (OHE) to ensure safety.
The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Kota stated, “All passengers are safe. There have been no casualties.” According to railway officials, arrangements were made to transfer the evacuated passengers to other coaches for their journey to Kota.

The 12431 Rajdhani Express had departed from Thiruvananthapuram on Friday and was scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi at 12:30 PM on Sunday.
This incident comes just days after another fire broke out in two AC coaches of the Hyderabad-Jaipur Special Express at Nampally railway station on May 15.
