Ongoing US-Iran Talks: Speculations Hold No Weight, Says Iranian Foreign Minister

Tehran, June 1: Amid ongoing discussions regarding US-Iran negotiations, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that the current statements being made are mere speculations and should not be taken seriously. He emphasized that communication between Iran and the US is still active.

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Araqchi, speaking on Iranian state television, confirmed that talks between Tehran and Washington are ongoing. He noted that no final conclusions should be drawn until tangible results emerge.

Araqchi remarked that the discourse surrounding US-Iran negotiations at this time is purely conjectural and deserves little attention.

Since the ceasefire implemented on April 8, discussions have continued between Tehran and Washington. This ceasefire halted a series of retaliatory airstrikes that lasted for 40 days, initiated when the US and Israel commenced military actions against Iran. At that time, Iran and the US were also engaged in diplomatic talks regarding Iran’s nuclear program.

Both parties have already conducted three rounds of discussions to find a resolution on this matter. Last year, Iran and the US were involved in nuclear negotiations when Israel attacked Iran on June 13.

Referring to these past experiences, Iran asserts that the primary goal of the current talks should be to permanently end the conflict, after which discussions related to the nuclear program can progress.

Meanwhile, the political situation in Iran is reportedly becoming more complex. Reports indicate that Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian has sent a letter of resignation to Mojtaba Khamenei. This information was provided by a source linked to the London-based Iranian opposition website ‘Iran International’, but the Iranian government has promptly dismissed this news as “false media reporting.”
