Gujarat Police Recruitment Sees Over 50,000 Clear Physical Test with RFID and Biometric Technology

Gandhinagar: More than 50,000 candidates have successfully passed the physical efficiency test in the ongoing Gujarat Police recruitment drive.

According to data released by the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board (GPRB), a total of 1,87,874 candidates were called for the physical test between January 22 and January 29. Out of these, 1,16,075 appeared for the exam and 50,383 qualified. The recruitment is being conducted for 13,591 vacancies in the PSI and Lok Rakshak (LRD) cadres, attracting over 10 lakh aspirants from across the state.

GPRB Chairperson Neerja Gotru stated that the entire process has been designed to ensure complete transparency, accuracy, and fairness through extensive use of technology. This recruitment campaign is not only large-scale but also structured as a fully transparent and error-free system, where selection is based purely on merit and effort.

The physical tests are being held at 15 designated cities and State Reserve Police training centres across Gujarat.

For male candidates, exams are underway at 11 venues and will continue until March 13, while tests for women and ex-servicemen are being conducted at four venues until March 6.

All tests are conducted under the supervision of medical experts from the health department.

Officials explained that advanced technical systems have been implemented at every stage to prevent errors or malpractice. During race events, participants wear Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips on their feet to automatically record timing with second-level precision.

Biometric verification using fingerprints and facial recognition is mandatory at multiple stages. The entire process is monitored through CCTV cameras. Height and chest measurements are digitally recorded, and candidates are shown photographic evidence of their measurements on screens.

To address any complaints related to measurements or procedures, an on-site appeal board has been established at each venue. This board comprises four members, including officers of SP rank and medical officers, who conduct re-verification in the presence of senior officials.

Gotru emphasised that the aim was to ensure that all candidates, including those from remote areas, participate with full confidence in the fairness of the system.

She also mentioned that a central control room in Gandhinagar has been set up for real-time monitoring of all test centres.

To ensure candidate safety, arrangements such as drinking water, ORS, medical teams, and 108 ambulance services have been made at all venues. Physical test results are provided instantly on-site through the digital system.

For security and supervision, each test venue is overseen by officers of DIGP or SP rank, supported by more than 90 police personnel. Overall supervision responsibilities lie with DIGP and IGP level officers.
