Jaipur, May 31: Gurjar leader Vijay Singh Bainsla delivered a strong message to political leaders on Saturday, asserting that the Gurjar community should not be viewed merely as a vote bank.
A viral video shows BJP legislator Jitendra Gothwal allegedly being pushed around after the installation of a statue at Kushali Pass. The footage circulating on social media depicts Gothwal surrounded by a crowd, prompting his personal security officer to escort him to safety.
Speaking at the event following the statue’s installation, Bainsla emphasized that the community has faced exploitation for years. He warned leaders not to disregard the sentiments of the Gurjar people.
Addressing community members, Bainsla stated that the Gurjar community is not just a tool for votes. He cautioned that if their dignity is not respected, they know how to respond. He insisted that the exploitation experienced over the past two and a half to three years must come to an end.
In a broader political message, Bainsla urged politicians across Rajasthan to take the Gurjar community seriously. He reminded them that Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla educated the society and taught critical thinking, enabling them to protect their interests.
Discussing political trust and leadership, he remarked that everyone should have opportunities, but there should be limits. He likened this to a kite, which should only be given enough slack to fly; too much slack can lead to it being cut down.
Bainsla also referenced the tense incident involving MLA Jitendra Gothwal on Friday. He claimed Gothwal was advised not to attend the gathering but still showed up, which sparked anger among certain community factions. He noted that public outrage has been growing over the past two and a half years.
After the statue installation at Kushali Pass, a video of Gothwal went viral, showing him surrounded by a crowd before being escorted away by his PSO.
In response to the events, MLA Jitendra Gothwal stated that he attended the program solely to pay tribute and reiterated his commitment to serving the Gurjar community. He expressed that he has always been eager to support the Gurjar people and will continue to do so.
He added that despite the rain, he attended the memorial gathering to pay his respects. During the event, some youths began chanting slogans, prompting BJP workers and supporters to respond, leading to a tense atmosphere that made them decide to leave.
Emphasizing democratic values, Gothwal affirmed that everyone has the right to protest in a democracy.
