Shimla, May 31: The weather in Himachal Pradesh has taken a sudden turn. Intense rainfall and cool breezes have significantly lowered temperatures, providing much-needed relief from the heat. The current weather is pleasantly cool, bringing joy not only to locals but also to tourists visiting the area.
One tourist shared, “The weather here is fantastic. It feels like we’ve entered a cool valley. The rain is delightful, and we are enjoying our day exploring the area. We don’t want to leave.”
Another visitor mentioned that they are traveling with family and have been staying in Shimla for several days. They noted that while the first two days were slightly chilly, the continuous rain over the last two days has made the weather even more enjoyable. “We didn’t expect such weather, but it feels great to be here. Walking in the rain, sipping tea, and enjoying the cool breeze is a wonderful experience,” they said.
A different tourist expressed their preference for visiting Shimla during the rainy season, as the greenery and coolness reach their peak. According to them, the beauty of this place during the monsoon is unmatched, which is why they return year after year.
However, the rain has also raised some concerns. Local residents and an observer reported hailstorms in several areas, posing a risk to apple and other horticultural crops. Horticulture is a vital livelihood for many in Shimla and its surroundings, making hail damage a significant worry for farmers.
A local resident commented, “While the rain has brought relief from the heat, the hail in some areas has caused damage. This could impact the crops of farmers and gardeners.”
