Devotees Flock to Ujjains Mahakaleshwar Temple for Special Rituals

Ujjain, May 29: On the auspicious occasion of the Jyestha Adhik Maas Shukla Paksha Trayodashi, the renowned Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain witnessed a grand display of devotion. Devotees from across the country and abroad gathered to witness the extraordinary Bhasma Aarti, where Baba Mahakal was adorned in a unique and divine manner.

Eager to glimpse their beloved deity, devotees lined up enthusiastically from Thursday night. The anticipation was palpable as everyone sought a moment with their revered God.

As per tradition, the temple doors were opened at Brahma Muhurat after receiving permission from Lord Veerabhadra. Upon seeing Baba, devotees were overwhelmed with emotion, chanting “Har-Har Mahadev” and “Jai Mahakal.”

The rituals commenced with an early morning water abhishekam, followed by a special abhishekam using Panchamrit, which includes milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, and sugar. Baba was then adorned as a king, complete with a crescent moon and Trinetra on his forehead. The deity was beautifully decorated with bhang, sandalwood, dried fruits, and jewelry, leaving devotees in awe.

During the Bhasma Aarti, which is traditionally held on this date, Baba Mahakal was offered bhang and sandalwood. His forehead was adorned with a crescent moon and Tripund (three lines), with a lotus flower design etched on the moon.

The divine form of Lord Mahakal was truly captivating. Following the rituals, the sacred ash was offered by the Mahanirvani. The atmosphere during the Bhasma Aarti was filled with the sounds of conch shells, damru, and bells, creating a spiritual ambiance. The entire temple resonated with the sounds of devotion and faith, enveloping the premises in an atmosphere of reverence.
