CBI Raids Punjab Vigilance Bureau, Arrests Intermediary Over ₹25 Lakh Bribery Allegations

Chandigarh, May 12: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the Punjab Vigilance Bureau office in Mohali. During the operation, the reader of Punjab Vigilance Bureau Director S.S. Chauhan was taken into custody on allegations of accepting a ₹25 lakh bribe.

According to sources, the CBI also raided a five-star hotel in Chandigarh, where an alleged deal was taking place. Inspector O.P. Rana, identified as the reader for the Vigilance Chief, and an intermediary named Raghav Goyal were reportedly caught in the act of negotiating a bribe. Approximately ₹13 lakh in cash was seized during the raid. Raghav Goyal was arrested, while O.P. Rana managed to escape.

In response to the operation, Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia commented on the social media platform X, stating, “Do you remember the ₹7.5 crore recovery from IPS Bhullar? Now, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has another achievement to his name. A central agency has raided the Punjab Vigilance Bureau and the office of the Vigilance Chief in an alleged bribery case. Reportedly, a ₹20 lakh bribe deal is under investigation, and the agency has seized approximately ₹13 lakh during the operation.”

He further added, “Sources indicate that this deal was arranged through an intermediary named ‘Goyal’ at a five-star hotel. More shocking revelations are expected soon. The Vigilance Chief’s reader, O.P. Rana, has allegedly been detained by the central agency as the investigation into this bribery and corruption network intensifies.”

Majithia emphasized, “Under the AAP government led by Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Vigilance office has reportedly become a hub for harassing the public. Layers of corruption in Punjab are now being exposed one by one. Bhagwant Mann no longer has any moral right to remain in the positions of Chief Minister and Home Minister. Punjab deserves a transparent government, not one run by fear, threats, and corruption.”
