Tripuras Urban Projects Gain Momentum with Pink Toilets for Women

Agartala, May 2: The Tripura government is establishing ‘Pink Toilets’ for women across all urban bodies, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation area. Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Saturday that these toilets aim to provide clean, safe, and easily identifiable public restrooms for women.

Following a review meeting on urban development projects, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that the construction of Pink Toilets is in the final stages across 20 urban areas in the state. He emphasized that such initiatives are crucial for strengthening urban infrastructure and providing inclusive public facilities.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure proper arrangements for idol immersion and to enhance the door-to-door waste collection system. He stated that all development projects should be completed within the stipulated time frame and adhere to high-quality standards. Additionally, he stressed the importance of maintenance and continuous monitoring after project completion.

Highlighting the need for effective administration, the Chief Minister directed the swift implementation of projects related to citizen services. He also reviewed the progress of the ongoing lighthouse project in the Akhaura area near the Bangladesh border and urged for expedited work.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister instructed that the city hospital project should be completed promptly to provide better healthcare facilities to the public. He called for the rapid installation of CCTV cameras to enhance security in urban areas and emphasized the need for railings on sidewalks to ensure pedestrian safety and prevent accidents.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the riverfront development project along the Gomati River in Udaipur, directing regular maintenance of existing pump houses and the construction of new ones as needed.

Agartala Municipal Corporation officials were tasked with ensuring environmentally friendly disposal or recycling of idols after festivals. They were also urged to strengthen regular door-to-door waste collection and solid waste management systems.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of various urban development initiatives, including the Satellite Township Project, AMRUT 2.0, Asian Development Bank-supported projects, Smart City Mission, city beautification plans, and the SASCI scheme.

Manik Saha stated that timely completion of welfare projects and maintaining quality will enhance administrative accountability and strengthen the commitment to the public.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Urban Development Secretary Milind Ramteke, Finance Secretary Apurva Roy, Agartala Municipal Commissioner Saju Wahid A., Urban Development Director Megha Jain, and Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority Commissioner Mihir Kanti Ghosh, among other senior officials.
