Noida, May 24: The Sector-58 police have apprehended a suspect who attacked women with scissors. The accused had been targeting women in desolate areas of Noida for several days. He has been identified as Ankit Verma.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on May 22 on Sector-55 Road, where two women were attacked. The assailant approached them from behind on a scooter and suddenly struck with scissors. Both victims sustained injuries and were provided immediate medical assistance. A case was registered at the Sector-58 police station. Following this, the police team identified the suspect using electronic surveillance (CCTV footage) and local intelligence. After extensive investigation, he was arrested on the Sector-55/56 Road. The police recovered the scooter and scissors used in the attack from his possession.
Ankit Verma is a resident of Ghaziabad and worked as an executive at a private company in Sector-62, Noida. He has been living in the Khoda area for the past 5-6 years, originally hailing from Bihar.
ADCP Noida, Manisha Singh, provided details about the case, stating, “On May 23, the Sector-58 police team arrested an individual who had been reported for attacking women and girls in isolated areas with scissors. The team had been making continuous efforts to apprehend the suspect.”
She further added, “The accused has been arrested. He works at a private company in Sector-62 and has been residing in Khoda for the last 5-6 years. He is originally from Bihar. A pair of scissors and the scooter used in the incident have been recovered. After the arrest, he was presented in court, and further legal proceedings are underway.”
