New Delhi, May 24: The inauguration of the new Support Annex Building in India marks a significant step in enhancing the relationship between India and the United States. U.S. Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore, stated that this modern facility will provide better services to citizens of both nations and further solidify their partnership.
Gore expressed his honor in attending the inauguration ceremony alongside U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He shared on the social media platform X, “It was a privilege to join Secretary Rubio for the inauguration of our new Support Annex Building. This facility will house our management and consular departments in New Delhi. It reflects our commitment to serving American and Indian citizens more effectively while also reinforcing the enduring strength of the U.S.-India partnership.”
Secretary Rubio is on his first official visit to India. After arriving in New Delhi, he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Rubio informed Modi about the ongoing progress in mutual cooperation across various sectors. He also extended an invitation from President Donald Trump for Modi to visit the White House soon.
Before the inauguration of the Support Annex Building at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, Rubio noted that the personal relationship between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump is further strengthening India-U.S. relations.
Rubio remarked, “The bond between the two leaders has been strong since the first term when President Trump had the opportunity to visit India. This relationship continues into the second term, and the deep connection between the two leaders is evident. They are serious leaders working with a long-term vision, not just a short-term one.”
He highlighted that the partnership between India and the U.S. has deepened in several areas that often do not make headlines but are crucial and lasting.
Rubio explained, “Trade relations have expanded, with Indian companies investing over $20 billion in the U.S. Security partnerships have also strengthened through military exercises in the Indo-Pacific region. Additionally, a streamlined and secure consular system is essential for reinforcing this relationship. To this end, we are launching the ‘America First’ visa scheduling tool, which will prioritize business professionals.”
Concluding his address, Rubio emphasized the importance of the India-U.S. partnership. He stated that his visit aims to further strengthen the ties between the two nations.
Rubio added, “That is why I am here on this trip—to reinforce those relationships and give them new direction. We believe that in the coming months, we will announce several new and significant developments regarding the growth and strengthening of our relations.”
