Trump Claims Major Peace Deal with Iran Nearing Completion, Strait of Hormuz to Reopen

Washington, May 24: President Donald Trump has announced that the United States and Iran are close to finalizing a significant peace agreement. This development follows discussions with various leaders from the Middle East and South Asia, including Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir and leaders from Gulf nations.

In a post on ‘Truth Social’ on Saturday, Trump stated that an agreement between the U.S., Iran, and several regional countries is nearly complete, with only a few final details remaining.

Trump wrote, “I am in the Oval Office, where I just had very productive conversations with Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, UAE’s Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jabir Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister Ali Al-Thawadi, Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. These discussions focused on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) related to Iran and peace.”

He emphasized that this is one of his most significant diplomatic initiatives concerning Iran and regional security in recent months.

Trump further noted that the agreement between the U.S., Iran, and the aforementioned countries is nearly finalized, pending only final approval.

He also mentioned having a separate conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which he described as very positive.

According to Trump, discussions are currently focused on the final terms and details of the agreement. The last aspects and nuances of the deal are under discussion, with an announcement expected soon.

A crucial part of Trump’s statement concerned the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route through which a significant portion of the world’s oil passes.

He wrote, “Along with several other components of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will also be reopened.”

This statement is particularly noteworthy for India, which relies heavily on oil imports from Gulf nations and has consistently viewed tensions in the Strait of Hormuz with concern.

If tensions with Iran decrease, it could help reduce oil prices, shipping disruptions, and risks associated with supply chains.

However, Trump did not provide full details of the proposed memorandum nor specify the roles of each country involved. The White House has also not released any additional information at this time.
